Clark at golf

Is Caitlin Clark a good fit for golf?

By Gianna Dowling

Last week Caitlin Clark spent her offseason on the golf course in an attempt to show off her two-sport athleticism. The Indiana Fever star participated in The ANNIKA Pro-Am alongside Hall of Fame Golfer Annika Sorenstam and current world No. 1 Nelly Korda.

So you may be wondering if Clark is as good on the green as she is on the hardwood. Let's look at some of the notable moments that highlighted her 18-hole performance to find out.

Shanked tee off

Might as well knock the worst highlight out of the way.

During her third-hole tee off Clark shanked the ball a little to the left, nearly nailing members of the crowd.

Clark is one of the best basketball shooters in the world, but draining a logo three is a little different than teeing off on a golf course.

That’s definitely not something that courtside fans would have to worry about at an Indiana Fever game.

It’s safe to say that this particular part of the course wasn’t Clark’s favorite. On her second attempt at this tee-off, she barely got the ball off the ground.

Lag putt

Don’t be fooled by the shank, because Clark definitely has other aspects of her golf game developed. One of which was a beauty of a lag putt.

For those of you who don’t know, the idea of a lag putt is to get the ball close to the hole and not make it in.

On this hole, Clark used a perfect touch to place the ball in a good spot for an easy tap-in on the next putt.

Approach shot

We all know that Clark has a specialty of hitting shots from deep on the basketball court. Well, she also showed her golf shooting range in this far-out approach shot.

Clark hit a great ball to put herself in a good position on the green.

GOAT meets GOAT

Aside from the ANNIKA Pro-Am giving Clark a chance to show off the highs and lows of her golf game, the competition also brought a mashup of two of the best female athletes in the world.

Korda and Clark are two of the most recognized and accomplished active female athletes, and both are the best at their respective competitions.

The two young athletes are both under the age of 30, meaning that their impact is going to be around for a long time.

The Caitlin Clark Effect

We have seen Clark sell out arenas numerous times between her college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes and her rookie season in the WNBA.

With the WNBA season on rest, fans have now come out to watch Clark’s game on the green.

While Clark’s golf game has yet to reach the heights of her hoops game, there's no doubt that her endeavors as a multi-sport athlete have reached fans all over the world.
