ID of One of Philadelphia Eid al-Fitr Event Shooters Revealed

Philadelphia police have revealed the ID of one of five suspects who opened fire on an Eid al-Fitr event in Philadelphia on Wednesday as Kahbir Oglesby-Hicks, 21. Oglesby-Hicks is being charged with evading arrest and several weapons offenses.

In addition to Oglesby-Hicks, two 15-year-old boys, a 16-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy are also in custody facing charges of recklessly endangering another person and weapons offenses. One of the 15-year-old suspects was allegedly shot in the shoulder and leg and is in stable condition.

The shooting took place at around 2:30 p.m. near Clara Muhammad Square in West Philadelphia. It is estimated that 1,000 people were at the celebration.

The shots hit two people and sent them to the hospital, where their conditions were listed as stable. Police say that two groups inside the park exchanged about 30 shots.

At the moment it’s unknown what weapon was used in the shooting, but sources say they saw one of the teens armed with a rifle. Investigators have recovered five weapons from the scene.

The shooting is still under investigation and more information is forthcoming. Several local and federal agencies are collaborating in the investigation including local law enforcement, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI.
