Hobey Baker Watch
With a month and a half remaining until the Hobey Baker winner is chosen, the top contenders are starting to pull away from the rest of the group.
Aiden Fink, Forward, Penn State
The sophomore winger is following up his phenomenal freshman season where he posted 15 goals and 34 points with an even better second year. Fink has 22 goals and 44 points with four games still left in the season.
Fink is averaging .73 goals per game and 1.47 points per game and has helped work his Nittany Lions team right back into the rankings and into a position to get into the NCAA tournament.
Fink is on a tear with 10 points in his last six games and has only been held to five games without a point this season.
Isaac Howard, Forward, Michigan State
Howard is nipping at the heels of Fink on the points leaderboard for D1 hockey with 22 goals and 43 points thus far in the season.
Howard is one of the key cogs in the machine that has been Spartan hockey this season. The Spartans have been ranked since the beginning of the season and find themselves at the top of the standings from USA hockey rankings.
Ryan Leonard, Forward, Boston College
Leonard was the favorite at the beginning of the season and still remains in the top candidates with 25 goals and 39 points in 29 games putting him at fifth in the nation in scoring.
He is also tied with his linemate Gabe Perreault in points who could also be put into the conversation for the award.
Leonard led team USA to their second straight World Juniors Championship win and won MVP with 10 points in seven games.
Jacob Fowler, Goalie, Boston College
Fowler has been the spine to the Eagles team that finds themselves among the top teams in the country yet again.
Fowler has played 27 of their 30 games and holds a 20-5-1 record with a .936 save percentage and a solid 1.71 goals against average.
Alex Tracy, Goalie, Minnesota St.
To show a little more love to the goalie position, Tracy has kept his team in the top 20 with his season performance giving his team a chance to win every game.
Tracy has played every game going 20-8-2 with a .941 save percentage and a 1.53 goals against average. If his team was winning a bit more, he may be higher in this conversation.
Tracy has only allowed more than three goals in a loss once, and has only given up one goal in both of his ties and three of his losses. He ranks fifth in the nation with three shutouts.
Jack Devine, Forward, Denver
Devine is looking for his second straight year as a Hobey Baker finalist. He finds himself among the top scorers in the country again leading in assists with 33 helping him to 41 points on the season.
Devine is leading Denver into the top 10 as they seek back to back national championship wins.
Cole O’Hara, Forward, UMass
O’Hara rounds out the top three in the country in scoring only two points behind the aforementioned Fink.
O’Hara only put up a total 35 points his first two seasons combined but has found another gear in his junior season with 17 goals and 42 points on the season.
