Friday at THON
THON has started! THON is a 46-hour dance marathon that happens every Penn State academic year. Here’s the recap from Friday.
Start of 46 Hours
Dancers stand at 6 p.m. to start off the 46 hours. Everyone rose to their feet after a countdown to mark the start of THON 2024.
Line Dance
The spirits were high around the BJC as they learned this year's line dance. This dance featured many pop culture and news references and made everyone smile while dancing.
From Barbie to the crowning of King Charles, this dance includes it all.
The anticipation and excitement for what was ahead grew as the hours passed.
Special Appearances
Special guests like Miranda Moore, Miss Pennsylvania, greeted the BJC to raise the spirits on the Four Diamonds stage. Some performances from guitarists to twirlers took the stage to entertain the crowd.
However, the main event started at 9 p.m. when Walk the Moon took the diamond stage. All the organizations and dancers cheered to greet the band.
Walk the Moon featured some of their hit songs like “One Foot” and “Lost in the Wild”. In THON style, Walk the Moon also featured “Shut Up and Dance” in this dance marathon.
As they performed, the BJC sparkled with lights from the PNC light-up bracelets. The vision of the BJC during this performance was spectacular.
Walk the Moon ended their stellar performance with “Anna Sun”.
Lottery Winners
The announcement of the Pep Rally Pass Lottery winners followed the Walk the Moon performance. The winners will receive two floor passes to the Pep Rally tomorrow if they are chosen.
Alpha Delta Phi, Alpha Kappa Psi and the Boxing Club were the winners.
The Rest of the Night
The BJC crowd dances the rest of the night away with DJ AD playing Spanish Pop music, the line dance and a special appearance by Donny Burns & the 3rd Degree with their rock-style twist to music.
So far, the BJC and all the dancers look to dance their way throughout the rest of the night and until Sunday at 4 p.m.
