STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - For the past three years, downtown State College staple ‘El Jefe’s Taqueria’ has been serving the community by providing fresh Mexican-style food until the crack of dawn, solidifying itself as one of the go-to late-night restaurant options in the area.

El Jefe’s service does not stop there however, as they also put on an annual THON fundraiser, where for a 20-hour timeframe, 100% of the profits raised are donated to philanthropy organization THON in the ‘El Jefe’s FTK event.

This year’s fundraiser saw a record-breaking $33,050 raised in the 20 hours, all going towards finding a cure for childhood cancer.

El Jefe’s owner, John Schall, had this to say when reflecting on the success of the fundraiser: “To be a part of trying to find a cure for childhood cancer is an honor and a privilege,”

Schall also remarked on how incredible of an experience it was for him to attend THON weekend, stating “It really is an incredible student-run organization. To be in that arena when it‘s all coming to its culmination is a special thing,”
