CommRadio Weekly Playlist: March 25

Here, members of the Arts and Entertainment Department will talk about the songs that dominated their playlists during the week and what makes them so good.
“Drew Barrymore” - Bryce Vine
The other day I heard a song being played as I was walking through the hallway in my dorm. As I walked by, I immediately recognized that the song was “Drew Barrymore” by Bryce Vine.
I had completely forgotten about this song as it was released in 2018, but I am so glad to have been reminded of it this week.
As I listened to the song in full for the first time in a long time, I was reminded of its fun, upbeat rhythm and catchy lyrics. It has been on repeat since and with summer right around the corner, this is going to be my perfect summer anthem.
Whether I need a pick-me-up song on the way to class or a banger to listen to in the shower, this song is perfect.
If you give it a listen and love it as much as I do, I also recommend “La La Land,” “Guilty Pleasure” and “Glamorama” by Bryce Vine. Happy listening! -Sophia Andriola

“I Want to Write You a Song” - One Direction
One Direction was my childhood. I saw them in concert in 2015 with 5 Seconds of Summer opening. Literal dream concert…though I don’t remember much of it anymore.
“I Want to Write You a Song,” to me, is a genuinely beautiful ballad. It’s one of my favorite love songs detailing all of the qualities with which a song could be written about this girl.
My favorite set of lyrics is probably, “One to make your heart remember me/So any time I'm gone/You can listen to my voice and sing along.” It’s a little bit sad and a little bit lovely.
In addition to the wonderful lyrics, the actual production of the song is mainly just a guitar - like an acoustic performance. I like to imagine the One Direction members sitting on stools, with one guy on guitar, while they all just sway and sing.
If you’re in a nostalgic mood and/or need to feel some love, go give this song a listen. Trust me, it’s healing. -Isabel Sweet

“Heat Waves” - Glass Animals
While my Disney music kick is still in full swing when I have been in the mood to listen to a song that didn’t originate from the house of mouse, “Heat Waves” has been my top choice.
I originally discovered the song when it was added to the FIFA 21 soundtrack and have been a massive fan of the tune ever since for its catchy beat and thoughtful lyrics.
“Heat Waves” is about a man who feels he is failing in his romantic relationship by not giving his partner the life he feels she deserves.
Sometimes, all I think about is when this song will come up next on the playlist. -Ben Palillo

“You Need Me Now?” - girl in red (feat. Sabrina Carpenter)
This song absolutely scratches every single synapse shooting through my brain.
I’m a closeted girl in red fan, and honestly “Body And Mind” and “Serotonin” carried me through freshman year of college.
I can’t figure out how to work the repeat button on Spotify, but the action of rewinding this song is absolutely worth it. It is perfect in every way.
This song is competing with “Maneater (live)” for the spot of my top song of the year. Let them battle it out, Andrew Barth Feldman and girl in red can take each other.
When Sabrina starts singing during the bridge my cells start dividing faster. The way she sings “I’ll be somewhere by myself in Hawaii” makes me want to be on a beach with my hands in the air.
This song could single-handedly make any climate feel like Summer. If Summer 2024 is anything like this song, it will go down in history. -Grace Bowman
