CommRadio Pokémon Day: 2025 Pokémon Presents Possibilities

By Owen Klein

Pokémon Day 2025 is Thursday, the day when the franchise was introduced in Japan with Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green in 1996. To commemorate this occasion, The Pokémon Company has a presentation filled with announcements regarding its upcoming projects set for that day.

Many things could be announced that day to excite the franchise’s fans in between the video game, trading card game and other subtopics, though some are more likely than not.

To prepare those who are anxious to see what’ll come, here are a few things that could be announced and how likely they are to be so.

New Pokémon spin-off game

The Pokémon Company hasn’t been hesitant to put in spin-offs over the years, with recent titles like the Pokkén series, Pokémon TCG Pocket and the Detective Pikachu series drawing interest.

If there was such a game to be announced, it’s been rumored that it could be in the style of another well-known Nintendo series, Splatoon. Either way, it’s a good opportunity for Game Freak and The Pokémon Company to end the Nintendo Switch era with a bang with a spin-off.

Classic Pokémon game collection

The olden days of Pokémon are admired by its longtime fans, and those who still follow to this day can hope to see the games of the first two or three generations make a possible return to the newer devices.

If these games are announced, they could be compatible with Pokémon Home, though The Pokémon Company will have to combat the use of save states that can break this compatibility to make it work, so it has its work cut out for itself if it does announce such a collection.

Chance it’s announced: 25%

Pokémon Black and White remakes

For arguably the most popular set of Pokémon games among Gen Z, fans can be somewhat hopeful that these games will return, especially with the second half of the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet DLC taking place in the Unova region, where Black and White take place.

If these games are announced, it’s possible that they could contain the Terastallization gimmick from Scarlet and Violet to add continuity, but it’s probably a stretch to think that these games will happen considering what projects The Pokémon Company is focusing on.

Pokémon Generation 10

It’s been a three-year cycle for The Pokémon Company to announce a new pair of mainline games to kick off a generation ever since Black and White. With that and the Nintendo Switch 2 having been announced in January, the Pokémon Company likely wants to start this new era on the right foot.

By giving fans a chance to look at what could be possible within a new generation, the fanbase could be full of speculation about what could be possible and how the game will run on the Switch 2.

Pokémon Legends Z-A details

It’ll have been a year since this game was announced come Tuesday, when fans will be dying to know what features this game will have.

Lumiose City in the Kalos region, the region that Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are based in, is the setting for this game, and the much-appreciated return of Mega Evolution awaits.

Whether there’ll be more Mega Evolutions, what areas can be explored inside the city, what the first partner Pokémon will be and what devices it’ll be available on are among the things fans will be looking for Thursday morning.

Chance it’s announced: 99.9%
