CFB Betting: Week 8
The following article contains information that is not representative of the opinions of CommRadio. It solely expresses the opinions of Giustino Racchini.
The NCAA football season is in full swing, and after a tremendous week of games, another set of star showdowns is on the horizon.
Here are some of the bets that are too good to pass up this weekend.
Michigan @ Illinois (Illinois +3)
Going into this week I am super confident in the Illini covering against the Wolverines.
Michigan will be motivated coming off of the loss against Washington two weeks ago, which should add fuel to the fire.
Illinois also had a scare last weekend, winning a barnburner against Purdue 50-49.
I’m not a fan of coming off of emotional wins the next week and taking that team in a bet, but with that said, Illinois’s offense matches well with Michigan’s defense.
No. 2 Oregon @ Purdue (Purdue +27.5)
Now I know what you may be thinking, but this matchup has the chance to be closer than people think.
Oregon is coming off of an emotional win, which honestly makes me nervous that Oregon could be walking into a trap game environment.
We’ve seen this happen time and time again (Penn State especially). I don’t think Oregon loses this game, however, just the fact that it will be less than four touchdowns.
Purdue also put up more points (49) against Illinois last week than they have the entire rest of the season (44 through the first five games).
Freshman quarterback Ryan Browne had over 100 rushing yards and three passing touchdowns in his first week of action.
The train looks like it won’t be leaving the station just yet.
South Carolina vs Oklahoma: (SC +3)
South Carolina does not feel like a .500 football team (3-3) after nearly beating both Alabama and LSU so far this season.
And after watching what took place in Norman, Oklahoma this past weekend, the Sooners are reeling.
The quarterback situation there is in flux, and the answer is honestly not one that can be easily fixed.
Last weekend, the Gamecocks were able to keep it close in Tuscaloosa a week after Alabama was upset on the road at Vanderbilt.
Shane Beamer is not afraid of the big dogs in the SEC, and with Oklahoma struggling the way they are, South Carolina has a clear advantage in this matchup.
It honestly makes me shocked that Oklahoma is favored.
No. 6 Miami vs Louisville (Miami -4.5)
Miami football has gone through a few weeks of ups and downs that almost saw them lose against both Virginia Tech and California.
This is simply a get-right game for the Canes.
Cam Ward is still one of the leading candidates for the Heisman Trophy, and the Hurricanes know what’s at stake for the rest of their season.
The ACC has proved to be a chaotic conference, especially considering Pitt and Clemson’s fast start.
Louisville has struggled through their last three weeks of play as well, losing two out of the last three against Notre Dame and SMU.’
Last weekend they squeaked out a 24-20 victory over the Cavaliers of Virginia.
The “U” needs to respond in a big way this week to back up the Top 10 spot they hold in the AP Poll Rankings.
