CATA BUS During THON

"Can I take the bus to my graveyard shift during THON weekend?"

By Emily McGlynn

One of the main ways people are trekking over to the Bryce Jordan Center this weekend for THON is by riding the CATA bus. More specifically, the white or blue loop. However, after recent schedule and route changes, rides have been limited.

Will CATA accommodate during THON weekend? The answer is no.

The blue loop stops running full service at 12:55 a.m. on weekends and stops reduced service at 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays with no service altogether on Sundays, per CATA’s website.

The white loop doesn’t have reduced service. It finishes its last stop at 2:30 a.m.

Any kind of comment about THON was tweeted on X Friday morning, “Fri, Feb 16, 2-7 pm: Stadium W. Parking, the BJC, Beaver Stadium E., and Athletic Admin Bldg. stops will not be served due to THON. Patrons using the RL, BL, H & HU, please use the Intramural Bldg., Shields Bldg., Medlar Field, Jordan E. parking stops instead.”

Those standing during the graveyard shifts will either have to Uber or walk in 28-degree F, snowy weather. Those lucky enough with a car can drive their friends and themselves.

Uber prices fluctuate depending on the time and demand. It’s been ranging between $8 to $25.

Greek and special interest organizations took this into account when they assigned their members standing shifts. CommRadio spoke with Juliet Berzins, a third-year majoring in human development and family studies, who is also involved in Eclipse and Dancer Relations.

Berzins says her shifts start right before the bus stops and end when the buses start running again.

CommRadio has not heard back from CATA at this time.
