Stars from Bishop Guilfoyle lead the team to Victory in the State Championship
HERSHEY, Pa. - Bishop Guilfoyle’s Anberlyn Petrecca and Morgan Ruggery combined for 27 points to cruise to a 53-34 win against Linville Hill to win the Girls 1A Pennsylvania State Championship for the second year in a row.
Petrecca scored 14 points and brought in seven rebounds and one steal in the Lady Marauders’ victory.
Ruggery also contributed 13 points and seven rebounds, as well as two steals and a block.
Defense was the name of the game for the Lady Marauders to start off the game as they held the Warriors scoreless all the way until 12 seconds left in the first quarter. During this time, Linville Hill only put up three shots and turned the ball over 11 times.
However, the Warriors were not out of the game. They rained down an onslaught of threes against the Marauders, going 4-7 from deep in the second quarter, with Abrielle Fisher and Desiree Smucker each sinking a pair.

Petrecca wouldn’t allow this, however, as her eight points in the quarter helped put the final nail in the coffin and led Bishop Guilfoyle to a 53-34 victory.
The Lady Marauders finished their season as back-to-back state champions, ending with only two losses on the year.
