Bill proposed to rename Greenland

By Nikolai Wagner

Eric Carter, a Republican Congressman from Georgia, has introduced a bill to the House of Representatives titled the “Red, White, and Blueland Act of 2025,”

This bill would have Greenland be renamed to Red, White, and Blueland if it were to become part of the United States.

This bill would also require the U.S. Geographic Names Information System to update the name of Greenland for users who access official maps and documents in the United States.

In a press release, Carter said, “America is back and will soon be bigger than ever with the addition of Red, White, and Blueland.”

The bill comes on the back of Donald Trump’s continuous push to buy Denmark from Greenland, although Greenland's Prime Minister Mute Egede saying the island is not for sale.

Senator Ted Cruz, who has voiced support for Trump’s plan said that he met with the Danish and Greenlandic ambassador regarding the matter.

Cruz told the Danish ambassador that selling Greenland to the United States could bring “mutual benefits.”

In an interview with Fox News, detailed his meeting in which he said, “I got to say the Danish ambassador, they were upset and they were offended and they said, Greenland is not for sale.”

Cruz said he responded to the comment by saying, “You know what: everything is for sale.”

On top of resilience from the Prime Minister of Greenland, a recent opinion poll found that 85% of the population of Greenland does not wish for their land to be part of the United States.

This left six percent of the population in support of joining the United States and nine percent undecided on the matter.
