Best Super Bowl Commercial

Mountain Dew: Aubrey Plaza Having a Blast
The iconic Aubrey Plaza teamed up with the best soda in the world, Mountain Dew Baja Blast, for this Super Bowl commercial.
The “Parks and Recreation” actress is best known for her deadpan mannerisms, so having her repeat the phrase “having a Blast” with a blank stare on her face in reference to the drink is genius.
Plaza was joined by her costar Nick Offerman at the end of the commercial, where they are riding dragons together.
This Super Bowl ad was funny, intriguing, and starred the beloved Aubrey Plaza drinking Baja Blast, so it was definitely my favorite of the night. -Sarah Gavlak
Agent State Farm
While the consensus seems to be that Super Bowl commercials have decreased in quality, there were still some enjoyable commercials this year.
My personal favorite had to be the State Farm commercial with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.
The commercial's premise is that because of Schwarzenegger’s thick accent, he can’t correctly pronounce neighbor from the company’s iconic slogan.
Schwarzenegger then proceeds to fail, saying it after many big set pieces as they are filming an agent State Farm movie.
Then, my favorite part of the commercial occurs when they say there will be a script change, and DeVito delivers the iconic slogan.
Not only was it a funny conclusion to the commercial but a call back to one of Schwarzenegger’s more underrated films, “Twins.”
The combination of star power, comedy and inside references made the State Farm commercial my favorite from this year's Super Bowl. -Ben Palillo.
Kia
Obviously, the car brand Kia has been a joke on social media for a few years now, but the ad released during the Super Bowl might be the beginning of the Kia redemption arc.
The ad focused on the Kia EV9, a daughter's ice skating competition and her relationship with the male figures in her life. If the goal of the ad was to cause waterworks throughout the world, then that was accomplished.
The ad shows a daughter finishing her ice skating competition and becoming distraught that the seat next to her father is empty. The dad immediately takes it upon himself to drive the daughter to the grandfather's house.
This is where the Kia EV9 comes into play, showcasing its impressive off-roading in snowy conditions in peak emotional times. Those who have a fear of driving in snow or a personal relationship with their grandfathers should immediately purchase this car.
The ad ends with the daughter performing her skating routine for her grandfather on the ice rink in his backyard as he watches through the window. The grandfather gives her a “10” while he has tears in his eyes.
Kia might be the laughingstock of the car industry, but they certainly know how to tug on the heartstrings of families everywhere. Congratulations to the advertising team, the world looks at Kia’s differently now. -Grace Bowman
