Best stadiums in the SEC

By Chris Vadnais

You won’t find many more passionate college football fans than in the SEC, and with some of the greatest fandoms comes a few of the best environments to be in and play in.

Judging based on the capacity, history, and loyalty of fans, here are my picks for the top seven stadiums in the SEC.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium - Arkansas Razorbacks, Memorial Stadium – Missouri Tigers, Vaught-Hemingway Stadium - Ole Miss Rebels. Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium - Texas Longhorns, Jordan-Hare Stadium - Auburn Tigers, Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium - Oklahoma Sooners

These are a few that just didn’t crack the top seven but would definitely be understandable in other rankings.

No. 7 - Williams-Brice Stadium - South Carolina Gamecocks

While the Gamecocks haven’t been known as a powerhouse in the conference football-wise, their fans most certainly are.

Darude - Sandstorm is an absolutely iconic fight song and after being at a game i can agree, there is a passion like no other among these fans.

No. 6 - Sanford Stadium - Georgia Bulldogs

What the Bulldogs lack in nationally famous fight songs or traditions, they make up for in energy, design, and talent.

Sanford is especially beautiful at night with the hedges surrounding the field and light displays from recent renovations, Georgia has a unique atmosphere in the best way possible.

No. 5 - Kyle Field - Texas A&M Aggies

From the night before with the midnight yell, to far into the 4th quarter of any Aggies game, Kyle Field is always loud and proud.

It also helps that Kyle Field has one of the biggest student sections with 39,000 seats and the largest capacity in the SEC housing 102,733 fans, most of which are season ticket holders.

No. 4 - Ben Hill Griffin Stadium - Florida Gators

Florida, while they’ve struggled in recent years is home to a massive community of fans who love their gators

Having one of the best 4th quarter songs in “Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty, The Swamp has over 90 years of Florida football to sit back on and will be back to form soon.

No. 3 - Neyland Stadium - Tennessee Volunteers

Sitting just south of downtown Knoxville, Tennessee sits a checkered orange and white crowd of 101,915 Volunteers ready to watch a beatdown unfold right next to the Tennessee River.

Fun fact: the Vols have never had more than four consecutive losses at home.

No. 2 - Bryant-Denny Stadium - Alabama Crimson Tide

Home to just over 100,000 fans who care about one thing and one thing only: The Tide.

Bryant-Denny Stadium has seen tons of success over its 95-year history, most recently home to the 2020 National Championship team.

Alabama fans are notoriously diehards for the Crimson Tide and that’s why they rank so high on the list.

No. 1 - Tiger Stadium - LSU Tigers

There was no other stadium that was going to be No. 1 here.

There’s nothing else to say about it, LSU and their fans have been loud and proud for decades. Good luck to any team that dares walk into “Death Valley” at night, because there are very few places like it.
