
Around the Big 12: Week Two
This past week the Big 12 had an up-and-down week with some big wins while there were some disappointing losses.
Kansas got things started off Friday with a huge win over Illinois at home where they dominated as they got out to a 34-7 in the third quarter.
In an exciting game, Texas was able to outlast Alabama at Alabama.
Quinn Ewers was able to spread the ball around as he had five different receivers with three or more catches.
Baylor was so close to picking up their first win until Utah scored twice in the last two minutes after an interception in Baylor territory set up the game-winning touchdown.
Oregon and Texas Tech had a shootout Saturday night but the Ducks pulled away from the Red Raiders after they outscored them 20-3 in the fourth quarter.
Kansas State got off to a slow start but eventually pulled away from Troy.
Dillon Gabriel tossed four touchdowns as Oklahoma beat SMU 28-11 in a low-scoring game for the Big 12.
BYU blew out Southern Utah as Kedon Slovis threw for 348 yards.
Iowa State tried to mount a comeback against Iowa as they narrowed the deficit to seven in the fourth quarter.
West Virginia bounced back against Duquesne by scoring 56 points against them.
Cincinnati was up on Pitt 27-7 before defending off Pitt’s comeback and winning the game 27-21.
In an underrated defensive thriller, UCF and Boise State went down to the wire with Colton Boomer kicking a game-winning 40-yard field goal for UCF as time expired.
One of the biggest upsets of the weekend was Rice defeating Houston in a back-and-forth game as Rice scored the first four touchdowns and Houston responded with the following four before Rice eventually got the two-point conversion to win it in overtime.
TCU bounced back this week by beating Nicholls 41-6.
Oklahoma State scored the last 20 points and shut down the Arizona State offense to cruise to a 27-15 victory.
This week, Kansas State travels to Missouri in what could be a surprise trap game for the Wildcats.
Baylor will look to pick up their first win of the season against Long Island while Iowa State will look to rebound against Ohio.
Oklahoma will travel to Tulsa to play the Golden Hurricane and UCF will look to continue to improve against Villanova.
Cincinnati will look to build off a big win over Pitt by taking on Miami (Ohio) this weekend.
Oklahoma State and Texas Tech each have easy opponents against South Alabama and Tarleton State respectively.
In a primetime game, BYU will look to beat Arkansas while the backyard brawl is back for another year as Pitt takes on West Virginia.
Texas will play Wyoming and Kansas will play Nevada.
TCU will play Houston in the first Big 12 game of the season.
