
After The Whistle District 6 & Penn State Sports Weekly Recap: April 9th, 2025
Due to inclement weather, various baseball and softball games were postponed. After The Whistle still covered high school volleyball along with Penn State sports this week.
Boys Volleyball
Altoona welcomed the number one ranked team in the state on Tuesday as Cumberland Valley looked to remain undefeated. The Eagles keep their streak, finishing with a clean 3-0 sweep, as the Mountain Lions move down to 1-4.

On Thursday, the Nittany Lions faced off against Rutgers. Penn State secured the 12-10 victory with Penn State getting their third straight Big Ten win and advanced to 5-7.
Looking to keep their streak alive, Penn State then welcomed the Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday for Youth Lacrosse Day. The Nittany Lions won 12-11 in overtime, pushing their Big Ten win streak to four.
Penn State Softball
Due to the rain, Penn State Softball welcomed Rutgers for a doubleheader on Friday. The Nittany Lions won game one 2-1 with Maddy Volpe pitching a complete game.
30 minutes later, Penn State took another victory, 8-0. Penn State got another win the next day against the Scarlet Knights for the sweep during the weekend.
