After the Whistle covered various high school and Penn State sports this week.

Wrestling

  • The 2025 Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic took place Saturday at Peters Township High School. The Pennsylvania Girls All-Star Team beat the New Jersey Girls All-Star Team 49-16. The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League beat the New Jersey Boys All-Star Team 29-17. For the main event of The Pennsylvania All-Stars vs. The United States of America All-Stars, Team USA won 26-13.

Girl's Basketball

  • Bishop Guilfoyle High School took on Linville Hill Christian Academy in the 1A State Championships Friday afternoon. Bishop Guilfoyle had a dominant start and used it towards their 53-34 win to defend the 1A state title.
  • Bishop McCort faced Berlin Brothersvalley at the Giant Center for the 2A State Championship on Thursday. It was a close game, but the Mountaineers of Berlin Brothersvalley pulled away and took the 2A title 62-50.

Baseball

  • It was a pitchers duel in Hollidaysburg on Monday as the Golden Tigers took on the Bisons of Bedford High School. Hollidaysburg came out victorious with a score of 1-0. Bedford dropped to 3-3 and went on to face Bishop McCort on April 1st. Hollidaysburg improved to 3-1 and faced Clearfield on April 1st.

Softball

  • State College Softball took on Chambersburg at home on Tuesday. The Chambersburg Trojans came out with a dominant win over the Little Lions 10-2. Chambersburg improved to 5-2 and faced Mifflin County on April 2nd. Meanwhile State College drops to 1-1 and will face Punxsutawney on April 4th.
  • On Tuesday the Huntingdon Bearcats traveled to face the Bellefonte Raiders in a conference matchup. The game was close, but the Raiders came out with the 1-0 win. Bellefonte improved to 3-0 on the season and will face Forest Hills on April 4th. Huntington drops to 3-2 and will face Chestnut Ridge on April 4th.

Penn State Baseball

  • Penn State baseball took on Bucknell for another Dollar Dog night on Tuesday. The Nittany Lions came out with a dominant win 14-3 and sold 4,429 hot dogs. Penn State improves to 18-10 and will travel to Minnesota on the 4th. Bucknell drops to 11-16 and will face Lehigh at home on the 5th.

Penn State Softball

  • Penn State Softball hosted Bucknell on Tuesday night. Penn State stayed dominant leading to a 8-0 shutout over the Bisons. The Nittany Lions are now 15-18 on the season and will host Rutgers on April 4th. The Bisons dropped to 9-20 and will face Lehigh on April 4th.

Penn State Men's Hockey

  • Penn State Men's Hockey made history this weekend in Allentown as they faced the University of Connecticut in the NCAA Regional Finals. Matt DiMarsico scored an overtime goal to win the game 3-2 ending the Huskies season. For the first time in the history of the program, Penn State will advance to the Frozen Four to face Boston University in St. Louis on April 10th.
