
After The Whistle District 6 & Penn State Sports Weekly Recap: April 16, 2025
After the Whistle covered various high school and Penn State sports this week.
Softball
- Bellefonte’s offense exploded in their Monday matchup against Bellwood-Antis, cruising to a 15-5 win. A strong start and consistent scoring through the innings allowed the Red Raiders to stay ahead and finish the game in dominant fashion. Bellefonte improves to 5-1 while Bellwood-Antis drops to 2-5.
Baseball
- On Monday, Central rolled past Hollidaysburg with an impressive 17-6 win. Their bats stayed hot all game, overwhelming the Golden Tigers in a high-scoring affair. Central’s record improves to 8-3 while Hollidaysburg falls to 6-3
- In a back-and-forth battle on Tuesday, State College and Central Dauphin were tied 6-6 heading into the eighth inning before the game was delayed. The matchup will be completed at a later date, with both teams locked in a tight contest.

- Altoona came out strong on Tuesday night, defeating Central Dauphin East 3-1. The Mountain Lions held their momentum after an early lead and closed out the match in four sets improving their record to 2-5. Central Dauphin East drops to 7-11-1.
Girl's Lacrosse
- Bellefonte dominated Mifflinburg on Tuesday at Roger’s Stadium, securing a commanding 16-4 win. The Red Raiders came out aggressive and maintained control throughout the game, showcasing a balanced offensive effort and solid defense to grab the home victory. Bellefonte grabbed their first win and improve to 1-6 as Mifflinburg drops to 0-5, still looking for their first win.

- Penn State Men's Lacrosse shutdown Johns Hopkins with a statement 10-4 win, showcasing a strong defense and efficient offense. Penn State’s performance keeps them trending upward as they eye a postseason push.
- Penn State Women's Lacrosse delivered a powerful 16-8 win over USC, using a dominant second half to pull away. The Nittany Lions' transition game and scoring depth proved too much for the Trojans to handle.
Penn State Softball
- Penn State Softball battled Ohio State in a hard-fought series, dropping the opener 9-5 before bouncing back with a dominant 11-2 win in Game two. In a wild Game three, Penn State came up short in a high-scoring 14-11 loss, closing out the weekend with a 1-2 series result.
Penn State Baseball
- In their weekend series against USC, Penn State opened with a 3-1 win, but dropped the next two games 6-3 and 11-6. Despite a solid start, the Nittany Lions struggled to contain USC’s bats in the final two matchups.
- In midweek action, Penn State suffered a 13-3 loss to Delaware. The Blue Hens jumped ahead early and never let up, handing PSU a tough defeat.
