
After the Whistle District 6 & Penn State Sports Weekly Recap: January 29, 2025
After the Whistle’s action-packed second show of the Spring 2025 semester covered both District 6 and Penn State sports.
Hockey
- High school hockey hit Hockey Valley for the first time on ATW this season. The Little Lions took a 7-0 victory over the Greater Johnstown Trojans with goalie Bryan Bucher earning his first shoutout of the season.

- The Trojans men’s basketball team defeated State High 62-44 for the second time this season. State College falls to 8-9 while Chambersburg advances to 12-4 on the campaign. The win would be head coach Shawn Sheffler’s 400th with the school.
- Bishop Guilfoyle notched its 14th win of the season with a crushing 52-12 win over Bald Eagle Area. The Marauder defense allowed only 3 points in the 2nd half.

- Altoona surpassed their win total from last year, now sporting a 13-3 record after a 64-10 win over Williamsport on Tuesday. The Mountain Lions have now won seven of the last eight matches over the Millionaires.
- The Central Mountain Wildcats defeated Jersey Shore 59-10 with six total pins. Penn State commit Dalton Perry pinned Tobias Morgret in the 152-pound contest after going up 12-0.
Penn State Hockey
- The Nittany Lions stole 4 points away from the No. 9 Buckeyes with two statement performances at Pegula Ice Arena. Penn State tied Ohio State 6-6 in the first game, but Dylan Lugris took the shootout win. In the second game, Reese Laubach won it in overtime for the blue and white in a 3-2 decision.
