After a Slow Start, State College Boys Volleyball came out with a win over Altoona
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Daniel Stefanovich blocked a swing from Lucas Weathersbee in the fourth set to get the win for State College over Altoona.
State College may have came away with the win, but it wasn’t a hot start. In set one, the Little Lions fell to Altoona by a score of 25-21.
State College then started out just as slow in the second. They were down towards the end of the set, before storming back to tie the set at 23.
Following the tie, the two teams went back-and-forth before the Little Lions came out 29-27.
Set three was where State College really turned it on. Some great defense and offense guided the Little Lions to a 25-10 win.
This put Altoona on the ropes. They needed to win set four to force it to the fifth set, but State College continued their dominance. They once again came away with a 25-10 win to take the match.
State College saw a major change after the second set. Outside Hitter Carter Weight said the Little Lions had a lack of energy in the first two sets.
“Due to injury or illness or whatever it may be, I don’t think we totally came super focused today,” Weight said. “I think as the match progressed we definitely focused a lot more.”
With the win, State College moves to 6-4 on the season. The Little Lions will play Chambersburg on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
