AFC South draft preview
The AFC South has been revitalized by the youth in the division. All four teams are safe with their young quarterbacks. All four teams have strong needs to continue to get younger and better to build toward a playoff season.
Each AFC South team will be listed and the player who best fits the team needs for each team’s first pick in the draft.
Tennessee Titans: Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame
The rumors are swirling on the day before the draft. It’s almost starting to look like Alt may not even be available to the Titans at No. 7.
However, if the Notre Dame offensive lineman is available for the Titans, they should immediately send the pick in.
Alt has broken free from the cluster of offensive tackles. He sits at the top of the offensive line board and will most likely be the top lineman off of the board.
The Titans need to protect their young quarterback in Will Levis and can do so by taking the top pass-protecting lineman on the board.
Indianapolis Colts: Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas
The Colts continued to build a track squad in Indianapolis. They need to surround Anthony Richardson with as many high-end receivers as possible. Worthy’s speed and Richardson’s rocket arm would be a match made in heaven for the Colts.
Worthy ran a record-setting 4.21-second 40-yard dash at the combine and he has recently been linked to the Colts.
Worthy next to Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs could create some crazy problems for defenses in the AFC.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama
This is another player that may not be available to the team that he best fits.
Arnold is the top cornerback on the board and the Jaguars need to address the secondary very early in the draft.
Arnold’s coverage ability fits the mold of the Jaguars and he can make a huge impact in the first year.
In his final season as a Crimson Tide, he had five interceptions while also showing the ability to return kicks. His speed mixed with being 6-feet tall is something that the Jaguars will love about
Houston Texas: Braden Fiske, DT, Florida State
This one was much harder to figure out and I wanted to stay realistic with the pick. The Arizona Cardinals own the Texans’ first-round pick.
The team made splashes in the draft last year and Fiske could be another splash for the playoff representative of the AFC South.
Fiske’s stock skyrocketed during the draft process. He showed out at the Senior Bowl and continued his impressive testing with the NFL Combine.
The Texans need to address the interior of the defensive line and a player like Fiske could fix that need instantly.
He tallied six sacks in his lone season at Florida State while helping his team go on to an undefeated regular season.
