"Abbott Elementary" continues to charm audiences with its fourth season, maintaining its blend of humor and heart.

The show, set in a Philadelphia public school, follows a group of dedicated teachers and their somewhat oblivious principal as they navigate the challenges of the education system. Despite the odds, they remain committed to their students' success.

The season premiere, "Back to School," aired on Oct. 9, 2024, and introduces a new challenge. The construction of a nearby golf course disrupts the school, causing low water pressure and the arrival of a new white student. This development highlights the ongoing gentrification in West Philadelphia, leaving the staff unsettled.

The episode humorously showcases the teachers' creative problem-solving skills. Meanwhile, the budding romance between Janine, played by Quinta Brunson, and Gregory, played by Tyler James Williams, becomes a topic of interest among students and staff, despite their efforts to keep it secret. Under pressure at the back-to-school staff meeting, Janine admits her relationship with Gregory.

In the second episode, "Ringworm," which aired on Oct. 16, 2024, the school faces a ringworm outbreak. The faculty takes action together to prevent its spread, leading to comedic chaos, particularly unsettling for Gregory, who postpones a date with Janine. Despite precautions, Jacob, played by Chris Perfetti, inadvertently spreads the infection by letting a student use the bathroom.

Principal Coleman, played by Janelle James, provides comic relief throughout the entire episode. Despite the outbreak, Janine and Gregory manage to go on their date, though everyone at the school, except Principal Coleman, ends up catching ringworm.

"Abbott Elementary" remains a delightful watch, balancing comedy with the realities of teaching in a public school. The cast continues to deliver strong performances and impressive chemistry.

Episode 3 airs on Oct. 23, 2024, with new episodes premiering every Wednesday.
