STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The 76th annual State College Halloween Parade was held Sunday at 7 p.m.

The parade began on Fraser Street and made its way down College Avenue and Allen Street before concluding at Memorial Field.

Leading the parade was the State College High School marching band, with the students of the marching band dressed in a variety of costumes. Each section of the band had a specific theme, with members coordinating their outfits to fit that theme. Themes included “The Wizard of Oz” and “Harry Potter.”

Behind the marching band was a community costume contest featuring six categories: cutest, superheroes, witches and monsters, when I grew up, most unique, and groups.

“We have gone to this event every year for the 14 years we have lived here in State College,” said Margy McGinnis, a 14-year resident.

“The parade used to start further down College Avenue, but other than that, it has stayed very similar during the time we’ve lived here,” her husband, Jerry McGinnis, explained.

This parade is a time-honored tradition among residents of State College, promising to entertain citizens during Halloween for years to come.
