2025 NFL Draft: Top five tight ends

By Jacob Rudy

This year’s tight end class is one of the deepest in recent memory. It contains multiple school record breakers and great athletes who will be big targets in NFL passing games in the near future.

5. Terrance Ferguson - Oregon

Ferguson finished his career as the all-time leader among Oregon tight ends in receptions with 134 and touchdowns with 16. He was a reliable option for Dillon Gabriel, finishing with 591 receiving yards last year, helping the Ducks to the Big Ten Championship.

Ferguson ran the fastest 40-yard dash time among tight ends at 4.63 seconds. He’s a good route runner, and he’s got the size and speed to create separation.

4. Mason Taylor - LSU

Taylor burst onto the scene as a freshman at LSU when he made two of the biggest plays of their season in an overtime win over Alabama. He finished his college career as the first tight end in program history to reach 100 catches and 1,000 yards for his career.

He’s got size and strong hands to make contested catches and can make defenders miss in space. There’s room for growth in his blocking, but he’s got the size and athleticism to become an effective blocker.

3. Harold Fannin Jr. - Bowling Green

Fannin set the single-season FBS record for receptions and receiving yards this year with 117 receptions for 1,555 yards. He also set over 20 school records. While playing in the MAC, he put together strong performances with over 100 yards on the road against their toughest opponents, Penn State and Texas A&M.

He tracks the ball well and has the athleticism to make defenders miss up the seam. Like Taylor, his blocking ability leaves room for improvement.

2. Colston Loveland - Michigan

Loveland was Mr. Reliable for Michigan, especially last year in an offense that struggled to throw the ball. He was the top target in the passing game and compiled over a quarter of their receiving yards. The year before, he had 649 yards on Michigan’s national championship run.

He doesn’t have the speed of some of the others on this list, but he’s a big target at 6-foot-6 that gets downhill after making the catch and is tough to bring down. He’s also a good blocker, and there’s a good chance he ends up with his former coach Jim Harbaugh, which would put that ability to good use and would be an easy transition into the league.

1. Tyler Warren - Penn State

Warren was the complete package for the Nittany Lions this year. He finished in the top 10 of the Heisman voting after finishing the year with 1,233 receiving yards and 1,451 yards from scrimmage.

He could and did run, catch and throw the ball for Penn State while also being an effective blocker. Whoever picks up Warren will get one of the most dynamic players we’ve seen at the position.
