15th Annual STOOP Event Illuminates Campus with Diverse Talents

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – In a resounding showcase of talent and diversity, the annual STOOP event electrified Heritage Hall on Nov. 2, offering a vibrant platform for students and artists to express themselves. This celebration highlighted the multitude of talents thriving within the student community.

As a first-time MC host, second-year student Mariam Suliman reflected on the invaluable opportunity the event provided for her to practice her hosting skills. Despite encountering challenges, she praised the welcoming atmosphere that allowed her to navigate through any hiccups seamlessly.

"This welcoming environment made me know how to pick it up and make it seem natural, which I attempted to do tonight," Suliman expressed, acknowledging that this natural flow elevated the event to another level.

Gaisuke Hayashi, a second-year member of Borrasca and the Brazilian Student and Community Student Association, echoed the sentiments of many in attendance, expressing his overwhelming response to the array of talent on display.

"I am overwhelmed by so much talent, so much beauty, so much creativity. It was very inspiring and uplifting," Hayashi remarked, emphasizing the profound impact of the performances.

The event boasted a lineup of standout acts, featuring performances from Maanasa Ranga from Nritya, the Urban Dance Troupe, RAM Squad, the K-Pop Music & Dance Group, Afrique Fusion, Sahana Ramachandran & Ranjani, Suraj from Nritya, The Luxurious Lionesses and Caliente.

Evita Colon, the featured artist of the night, brought her commanding presence to the stage. A writer, spoken word artist, and entrepreneur, Colon's impactful presence echoed as she shared several poignant poems during the open mic session.

Her pieces, such as "Rose" and "Speak to My Soul," resonated deeply with the audience, reflecting her remarkable skill and artistry.

The STOOP event served as a testament to the richness and diversity of talents within the student body.

This showcase emphasized the importance of providing a platform for self-expression, offering performances ranging from dance to spoken word, fostering a sense of community and pride in the talents residing within the campus.

Once again, the annual STOOP event demonstrated its indispensable role in nurturing creativity and individuality, contributing to the vibrant tapestry of talent within the educational community.

As the night concluded, the echoes of creativity and diversity lingered, underscoring the significance of platforms such as STOOP in nurturing and showcasing the richness of student artistry and cultural diversity.
