Top 5 moments of the final round of the 2026 Genesis Invitational
After being spoiled for the previous two weeks, golf fans saw a drop in excitement at the Genesis Invitational. The first three days were not what fans expected. Many golfers were shooting even par or worse on these days. Fans even saw Scottie Scheffler shoot a +3, 74, after being +4 halfway through his first round.
However, the competition picked up on Sunday, and this round helped make up for the previous three rounds. Jacob Bridgeman would end up winning with a final total of -18 despite shooting a +1, 72 on Sunday. However, other than Bridgeman squeezing out the win by one stroke, here are the top five moments of the final round of The Genesis Invitational.
5. Aldrich Potgieter Sets Up His Second Eagle
After landing on the green in two on hole one, Aldrich Potgieter would sink a long putt for his first eagle of the day. However, he would not see much action again until the 11th hole. After the first, Potgieter would finish out the front nine with seven pars and one bogey. However, on the 11th, he would hit a shot from the fairway to set up a short putt for eagle. Potgieter would then make it and give him his second eagle of the day. He would finish in fifth at the conclusion of the tournament at -15.
4. Adam Scott’s Finish on the Eighteenth
Following Saturday’s round, Scott had some ground to make up after he shot +1, 72. However, this seemed not to be a problem as he would come in and shoot -8, 63 on the Sunday. Despite many great moments from his round, the top moment was on the eighteenth. After getting onto the green in regulation, Scott would be left with a long putt for birdie. He would then nail it and give himself his eighth birdie of the day. Scott finished the day bogey-free and would end up fourth overall at -16.
3. Rory McIlroy Gets Within One on the 18th
McIlroy had a slow start on the front nine holes by shooting even, which meant that he needed to get things moving on the back. He did just that, and on going into the 18th, he was -3 on the day and two back from the lead. His second shot would not be promising as it would go over the green and onto the fringe, setting up a long putt for birdie. However, with the legendary Tiger Woods watching, McIlroy would make the putt and finish the day with a birdie and come in with a -4, 67 to round out the weekend. He would not be able to reach Bridgeman, but did finish T2 at -17.
2. Tommy Fleetwood’s Shot for Eagle
Fleetwood would struggle the entire weekend in the tournament and never had a shot to win. However, despite his many bogeys through the four days, he would change the script on hole 15, a par four. After landing his drive in the fairway, Fleetwood would have 173 yards to the pin and using an iron, his shot would slap the flagstick and dunk in for eagle. This shot would help him finish -2 on the back nine and conclude the weekend in a five-way tie for seventh at -12.
1. Max Greyserman’s Hole in One
While this was the clear number one, it was a special moment for Greyserman. After having two strong rounds on Thursday and Friday, his play began to decline on Saturday. However, Sunday was his worst performance, but not on hole 14. On this 180-yard hole, Greyserman pulled out his six iron and hit a gorgeous shot that would land on the green and roll in for a hole-in-one. To make this even more special, it was his first one while being on the PGA tour. It was a great moment to cap off the weekend.
Even though this tournament was not as exciting as previous ones this season, the final round still brought great moments. This upcoming weekend is the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, which is played at PGA National Resort-The Champion Course at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This is a smaller tournament, so many of the big names will not play, but it should still be an exciting one to watch.
