Reality Roundup: “Survivor” Episode 2 Recap
The episode began with the Kele tribe returning from tribal council, where they voted out their tribemate, Nicole. Annie, who narrowly survived being voted off, believed she was the one calling the shots in the tribe.
She told several members of the tribe about her plan to vote out Jake, the physically strongest member, next.
Little did Annie know, she was actually at the bottom of the tribe, and no one else planned to vote out Jake.
Later in the episode, each of the three tribes had to send one member away on a boat to compete in a challenge.
The Kele tribe sent Jake, the Hina tribe sent Matt, and the Uli tribe sent Jawan.
In the challenge, the three competitors threw coconuts into one another’s nets. Once a net was filled with too many coconuts, it fell, and the last competitor with their net still standing won.
In the end, Jawan’s net was the last one standing, and he was given a choice for his prize.
He could either take a personal reward by stealing a vote from one of the other two competitors, giving him an extra vote, or he could choose a tribe reward by assigning a disadvantage to another tribe during the next immunity challenge.
Jawan decided it was best to gain favor with his tribe, so he chose the latter option.
At the immunity challenge, Jawan revealed his power to the other two tribes and announced he would place the disadvantage on the Hina tribe, which had remained undefeated in challenges.
As their disadvantage, each Hina member had to carry 20 coconuts on their back during the challenge. In one portion, while the other tribes had only one potential key to open a lock, Hina had 10 potential keys, with only one being correct.
The disadvantage proved effective. For most of the challenge, Hina trailed behind while Kele held a consistent lead.
It looked like Kele would finally secure their first win—until they reached the final puzzle and completely blew their lead. The Hina and Uli tribes made a comeback and finished before Kele, sending Kele back to tribal council to vote out another member.
Before the immunity challenge, Alex from the Kele tribe found a beware advantage on a parchment while walking with Jake. The parchment said there would be a clue to an immunity idol buried at camp if the tribe lost the immunity challenge.
After the loss, the two—along with Sophi—dug up the clue, which included a map to the idol and a key to unlock the box it was hidden in. They began their search.
While searching, Jeremiah found them, forcing the trio to let him in on their plan. In the end, Alex found the box and unlocked it to reveal the immunity idol.
With the idol in hand, Alex considered using it to make a flashy move by taking out Sophi, which would put Jake entirely on his side.
In the end, however, he decided it wasn’t the right time for that move. The tribe instead voted out Annie, who was at the bottom—even though she thought she was at the top. — Nikolai Wagner
