NFL Game of the Week: Eagles vs. Buccaneers

By Andrew Matz

Our NFL game of the week sees the Philadelphia Eagles travel to face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Eagles and Bucs are even in the series against each other. Each team has won nine games.

The last time these two teams played, the Buccaneers defeated the Eagles 33-16.

Last week, the Eagles hosted the Rams in a thrilling matchup. After being down 26-7 at one point. The Birds would come back from the 19-point deficit to take the lead 27-26.

With a final second blocked field goal, returned by Jordan Davis, the Eagles defeated the Rams 33-26.

The Eagles improved their record to 3-0 and will look to continue their undefeated season.

The Buccaneers are also off to an undefeated start this season. They edged out the Jets last week, defeating them by a score of 29-27. It was a hard-fought game against a winless team.

There are still question marks when wide receiver Chris Godwin will return, but there was some bad news for the Bucs as they will be missing star receiver Mike Evans.

Despite the losses, they still have rookie standout Emeka Egbuka, who, through his first three games with the Buccaneers,s has 14 receptions for 184 yards and three touchdowns.

Baker Mayfield has found a home in Tampa Bay as he threw for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns last season. So far this season, 615 yards and six touchdowns.

After a dominant season last year for the Birds it has been a slow start to the season for Eagles superstar running back Saquon Barkley. Through three games this season, Barkley has 194 yards and two touchdowns on 58 carries.

He is only averaging 3.3 yards per carry compared to his 5.8 yards per carry.

The big story from last week was the change in Jalen Hurts, after throwing for negative passing yards in the first half of the game against the Rams. The second half was a different story.

He ended the game with 226 yards and three touchdowns. Leading the Eagles' comeback to stay undefeated.

Hurts had a great connection with receivers A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. Brown had six receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown, while Devonta Smith had eight receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown.

It is going to be a great game to watch. We’ll see two teams who will be fighting it out throughout that season in the NFC playoff picture.

Kickoff is set for one p.m. Sunday from Raymond James Stadium.
