Morgan Wallen’s debut album If I Know Me delivers a mix of modern country energy and traditional southern storytelling that helped shape the rising artist’s early career.

Released in April 2018 under Big Loud Records and produced by Joey Moi, the project features 14 tracks that showcase Wallen’s distinctive voice and blend of country, rock and pop influences.

The album opens with “Up Down,” a collaboration with Florida Georgia Line that quickly became a summer anthem. Its catchy chorus, beach-town imagery, and singalong rhythm introduced Wallen to mainstream country audiences.

Following its success, singles like “Whiskey Glasses” and “Chasin’ You” propelled the album to commercial recognition, solidifying Wallen’s place among country’s breakout artists.

“Whiskey Glasses,” in particular, became a fan favorite for its relatable lyrics about heartbreak and moving on, reaching the top of the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

Throughout If I Know Me, Wallen’s songwriting leans into familiar country themes of small-town pride, heartbreak, and late nights. His rough-edged yet emotional vocal delivery gives authenticity to songs like “Had Me by Halftime” and “The Way I Talk.”

The latter serves as a personal anthem, celebrating individuality and Southern roots with conversational charm. While the lyrics sometimes stay within familiar territory, the album’s consistency and energy make it a cohesive debut.

Production plays a key role in defining the sound of If I Know Me. Producer Joey Moi, known for his work with Florida Georgia Line and Nickelback, blends polished country instrumentation with pop-rock sensibilities.

The use of electric guitar riffs, layered harmonies and upbeat percussion keeps the album radio-ready while still grounded in country tradition. The result is a collection that appeals to both country loyalists and crossover audiences.

Commercially, the album experienced gradual but steady success.
