MLB: All-Star snubs

As the 2026 Major League Baseball season reaches its halfway point, one of the sport’s biggest celebrations has arrived: All-Star Week.

From the red carpet to the Home Run Derby of the Midsummer Classic, these annual festivities showcase some of baseball’s brightest stars.

While some fans are excited to watch their favorite players take center stage, some see the All-Star break as giving their team a chance to regroup before the second half of the season.

Making the All-Star team is one of the game’s biggest individual honors, recognizing players for their standout performances during the first half of the season. But each year, deserving players are left off the roster, fueling debate across the baseball world.

The 2026 All-Star Game is no exception. While this year’s rosters feature many first-timers, several deserving players were omitted. Here are some of the biggest snubs from the 2026 MLB All-Star Game.

Sonny Gray, AL SP

Boston Red Sox pitcher Sonny Gray may be the biggest snub of this year’s All-Star selection. Gray is having the best season of his career, yet was not named to the American League roster.

Despite the team’s struggles, Gray has emerged as their ace and one of the most reliable pitchers.

Gray leads all AL pitchers with 10 wins and has posted a 2.61 ERA, 82 strikeouts and a 1.10 WHIP across 89 ⅔ innings pitched. Gray also leads the league in winning percentage at .909.

His teammate, Ranger Suárez, earned an All-Star selection, but many believe Gray deserved to join him on the roster.

Brice Turang, NL 2B

Brice Turang has emerged as one of baseball’s most complete middle infielders, but it wasn’t enough to earn his first All-Star selection.

The 26-year-old is slashing .267/.360/.815 with 12 home runs and 14 stolen bases. He finished third among National League second basemen in All-Star voting, behind Ozzie Albies and Alec Bohm, despite playing a key role in the Brewers’ first-half success.

Turang’s value goes beyond the stats. His ability to get on base, steal bases and save runs defensively has made him one of the Brewers’ most impactful players.

In a crowded field at second base, Turang was ultimately left off the roster. If he continues producing at this level, his first All-Star selection may not be far away.

Bryan Reynolds, NL OF

The Pittsburgh Pirates have the third-highest scoring offense in the majors and are off to their best start in over a decade, yet their All-Star selections did not reflect that.

Bryan Reynolds contributed to their success with a strong first half of the season, slashing .281/.397/.870, with 13 home runs and 2nd in the majors in runs with 64.

Reynolds also recorded the longest on-base streak in the league at one point, reaching base safely in 34 consecutive games. Despite his production, he was left off the NL roster, making him one of the most notable 2026 All-Star snubs.

All-Star selections will always be debated, as there are a limited number of spots for the league’s many deserving players. While these names may have been left off this year’s rosters, their first-half performances showed they remain among baseball’s best.

As the season continues, these players will have the opportunity to make their case and perhaps earn the recognition they deserve next year.
