Jake Kissell leads Bishop Guilfoyle to a win over Bellwood-Antis
Quarterback Jake Kissell led the Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders to a 21-14 victory against the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils.
Kissell, filling in for the injured Justin Wheeler, proved himself as a multi-threat quarterback. The senior threw a 12-yard pass to wide receiver Connor Okonak and rushed for a game-winning 8-yard touchdown with just two minutes left in the game. On the final drive, Kissell rushed eight consecutive times.
The Marauders also proved to be a tough opponent, as they came back from a 14-point deficit to tie the game in the third quarter, with rushing touchdowns from both Alex McCartney and Karter McCloskey.
“He is the best player on the field every week at all times,” head coach Justin Wheeler said after the game. “He is a man playing amongst boys.”
With the win, Bishop Guilfoyle improves to 6-1 on the year, whereas Bellwood-Antis falls to 3-4.
The Marauders will suit up next week against the 6-1 Forest Hills Rangers, while the Blue Devils will travel to face the 3-4 Chestnut Ridge Lions.
