Bald Eagle beats Central Cambria to advance to the District Six 2A playoffs

Eagles quarterback Grady Fischer’s two-touchdown performance, alongside a suffocating defense, sealed the 21-0 win for Bald Eagle over Central Cambria to secure the final spot in the District Six 2A playoffs.

Last week, this game was meaningless: both teams sat at 4-5 with playoffs out of reach. However, Mount Union announced Monday that the team did not have enough healthy players to continue the season. With Mount Union forfeiting its 2A playoff spot, this game became a win-and-in for the Eagles and the Red Devils.

Following a scoreless first quarter, Fisher came up just short of the goal line with an attempted tush push. His second attempt would not fail, putting the Eagles on the board first. The home team converted a two-point conversion to make it 8-0 Bald Eagle.

With less than two minutes remaining in the first half, Fisher scored his second rushing touchdown of the night, demolishing the Red Devils’ defense to grab another six points. Jackson Millward converted the extra point, putting the Eagles up 15-0.

Following his impressive rushing performance, Fisher said, “I just really wanted it tonight, being senior year, I wanna go to the playoffs.”

Defensively, the Eagles forced three turnovers, with Jackson Millward picking off Central Cambria’s Mason Pittsinger twice and Jacob Gardner forcing a fumble.

This is the third time Bald Eagle has shut out an opponent this season, and the Eagles will look to ride their stellar defensive performance into the 2A playoffs.
